The Montauk

We joined forces with our friends over at Stock Manufacturing Company to create the perfect summer tie. Once pre-sale orders hits 25, this item will go into full production. For $55, this tie is an utter steal and will help you sail through the summer with graceful style.

The Montauk: Known simply as “The End” by locals, this hamlet is a quaint refuge for the East Coast privileged. More laid back than its surrounding quarters, Montauk residents enjoy days on the water and nights beneath the stars. Like it’s namesake, this tie is classic but unfussy. Combining navy linen and pink seersucker, two quintessential summer fabrics, The Montauk is your essential summer tie as it provides refuge from those conventional models your friends are wearing.

AD Holiday Wishes

1. Creed Green Irish Tweed: From one of the premier fragrance houses, this scent was custom developed for Cary Grant. Enough said. ($260.00-$315.00)

2. Jawbone Jambox: We love music and hate clutter. Stream(line) your tunes over this iconic designed system, wirelessly. ($299.99)

3. Urbanears + Harris Tweed: We don’t go anywhere on foot these days without our favorite playlist accompanying our journey. Waiting for the train with a cup of joe on the morning commute? These may be the only set of phones that up your style game. Made of that same tweed that your overcoat is made of. Or at least the tweed you want your overcoat to be made of. ($95.00)

4. Whiskey Stones:  Not one for room temperature scotch served neat? Add these chilled Scotch Rocks to your fine single malt, releasing the true complexity and allowing for that incredibly dry, long and peaty finish to intensify your senses. (also recommended to be paired with: Black Bowmore, 1970; Glenfiddich, 1937; or a more affordable Johnnie Walker Blue Label) ($19.95-$58.00)

5. Monocle Subscription: The smartest, most worldly and best designed magazine on the planet. Hands down. This is a magazine that you will want to save and showcase on your bookshelves. We need our subscription renewed! (~$145.00 for full package)

6. Coach Bleeker Debossed Striped Duffel: Not as large as your traditional duffel, this bag is perfect for the office, gym, an overnight get-away, or just schlepping your stuff about town. This is the type of piece that only gets better with age. ($698.00)

7. Billy Reid Bowery Coat: We are Mid-West born and raised. That means we truly experience all four seasons. And when winter hits, winter hits hard. Stylishly stand up to the cold this winter. ($975.00)

8. Gräf & Lantz Felt Travel Duffel: We’ll admit, we have a pension for bags. Duffles. Weekenders. Garments. All of them. We’ve seen a lot of canvas and leather lately. This is a fresh take on a classic look. Wool felt and leather accents? The perfect Fall and Winter traveler. ($485.00)

9. Metal Skull:  Tired of your wife’s Crate and Barrel, West Elm, or Pottery Barn fascination? If you can’t procure a real human skull (or convince your wife of it’s aesthetic and artistic value) opt for a less “real” version and put a personal touch to your home decor or office. ($125.00)

The Bespoken Hour

We recently teamed up with Cincinnati’s finest haberdasher, Romualdo, as well as the up and coming craft brewery, 50 West Brewing Co., to create our first (of many) Bespoken Hour.

The idea of this event is to bring like minded individuals, those who appreciate hand crafted, small batch quality. Whether it is the fine tailoring of a besopke suit, a custom woven tie or a beautifully crafted brew, the same integrity goes into each an every piece, design and batch.

By way of background, Romualdo’s started as a proper men’s tailoring shop in 1968. Romualdo Pelle, one of just a handful of Master Tailors left in the U.S., built his reputation on as much of his skilled work as his infectious attitude. Over the years, it has now transformed into a quintessential men’s haberdashery with the vision of proprietor Trevor Furbay, a 20-year vet in the men’s style and garment manufacturing world.

On the imbibing side, 50 West Brewing Co. is the new kid on the block. Whit Hesser, Blake Horsburgh and Bobby Slattery are the hungry owners of Cincinnati’s newest craft brewery that is already earning high marks from reputable palates around the Mid-West.

Teaming up with these two entities proved to produce an atmosphere of similar views, approaches and tastes that lived up to the name “The Bespoken Hour.”

The 72nd Annual Camargo Hunter Trials

We recently spent a pristine Midwestern fall day at the 72nd Annual Camargo Hunter Trials. In an event that is patently fall, horse lovers, outdoor enthusiasts and social gatherers commune on Clippinger Field to appreciate skilled equestrians and the formal rituals of vintage foxhunts.

We couldn’t have asked for a more fitting day. Surrounded by woodlands of changing leaves there was not a cloud in the sky and the fall air topped out at 65 degrees. We were on hand to enjoy food, beverages and conversation. Check out some of the day as captured below.
